Distribution of recorded prehistoric campsites in the
Thurmond Ranch archeological survey area. Note the concentration of large
campsites along the boundary between the Ogallala and Permian redbed outcrops,
and the rapid decline in campsite size and density as one proceeds northward
into the Permian outcrop area. Areas outside the Thurmond Ranch boundary have
not been surveyed for the presence of archaeological sites.
